hey everyone,

i got a new camera off of craigslist and suddenly i think i'm something of a photographer

i'm in guatemala for six weeks, then will pass on to costa rica (and perhaps nicaragua) for two weeks, then will finish in honduras for two more weeks

sorry about the spacing, i'm new at this...

this is my awesome group j.j.a.a. (johnny, armen, jessica and amanda) flanked by me and susie

sniff.... they take after me....

we started out at finca ixobel in northern Peten in guatemala.

almost immediately they had a parade, perhaps in preparation for semana santa which is soon, perhaps to celebrate our arrival. this is apparently the guatamlan ideal woman: sexy shorts and penguin heads. love the cell phone

this is what the boys found in their cabina: a tarantula eating a bizarre millapede. that liquid is blood, folks

we had a bonfire - hoola-hoop - s'more making fest at night. susie played and woo'ed us with her amazing vocals. she does a killer big yellow taxi

me n' the suz.... definitely not the "snooze"... what a team

two of our (two) guys and troy, a gringo from minnesota, just passing through

armando showing off his super powers

we're in san andres now, i forgot to say, also in the peten region. we go to spanish school in the morning and have varied activities in the afternoon. to get from place to place you take a "lancha" or boat. this is my hostmom and our lovely kitchen. her food is sooooo good

johnny b. working hard. the town cooperative spanish school burnt down a few weeks ago, we collect rocks for the foundation so they can build another one. classes are held in the biblioteca across the street from the old school

we went to "petencito" which is a zoo and saw some beautiful animals

and some not-so-beautiful ones. these are spider monkeys and i hear they're great to have around as pets... it you're into that

i'll leave you with this one for now... the view of the lake from our lancha on the way back to san andres. a mystical journey for sure.

hasta luego!
